Elliott's former Good morning America colleague, Sam Champion, confirmed the news Monday, tweeting, "Im not going to b at work tomorrow. @JoshElliott32 and @LizCho7 announced their engagement tnite!!" In another tweet, the Weather Channel's anchor and managing editor added, "I LOVE U 2!" Elliott retweeted his friend and added, "Friends get no better..." He also thanked publicist and TV star Kelly Cutrone, GMA segment producer Michael Del Moro and New York Post editor Jamie McCarty for their well wishes. Cho also retweeted Champion, although she did not add any additional commentary.

The pair began dating in 2012, after Cho split from Evan Gottlieb. The ex-spouses have a daughter, Louisa Simone, 7. Elliott, meanwhile, also has a daughter, Sarina, 6, with his ex-wife Priya Narang.
